Somer Jefferiss, J.D., PHR

Somer V. Jefferiss obtained her undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. She then went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from Willamette University College of Law, where she focused on International Studies and was a co-founder of the Sports Law Society. During law school, Somer spent time studying in London and China.

Somer is licensed to practice Law in the State of New Jersey. During her first ten years of practice, she was General Counsel for a Management Consulting firm specializing in a wide array of corporate matters, Human Resources, Wage and Hour practices, and business contracts. The firm evolved into a technology provider and Somer was a key stakeholder in its transition into a SaaS HCM provider. She then led the company through it’s acquisition via a Stock Purchase Agreement.

Thereafter, as a business executive at Kronos, Somer held management positions across the organization in company Integrations, Customer Success, Transformation operations and Renewals management.

Somer has been recognized as an expert in Wage and Hour law and is a thought leader in business transformation and compliance best practices. She frequently speaks at conferences around the nation and has published dozens of articles.

After spending two decades in the technology industry in various executive roles, Somer "hung her shingle" and opened SVJ Law in 2024. She focuses on supporting small and growing businesses, providing each client with personalized service. A strategic thinker and proactive leader, Somer builds strong partnerships with her clients, believing that collaborative relationships lead to the best outcomes.
